A native of Washington State, I was lucky enough to be born and raised by fabulous hippie parents who encouraged me to find my own path in life. Along that journey I've gone to school for film and video communications, been a cosmetic counter manager and freelance artist, delved whole-heartedly into Yoga, was initiated at the end of a year-and-a-day Pagan apprenticeship, completed a Reiki Mastery training program, been inducted into the joys of knitting and yarn stashing, achieved an Aromatherapy diploma, lived in a traditional bungalow while attending Thai massage school, created a fantastic circle of international friends, and generally strived to be a good person.
I'm totally enjoying the evolution of life and curious to see what the Cosmos will offer next. Since I don't do higgledy-piggledy however, I naturally have a list of the things I'd like the Cosmos to assist me in exploring. It's colour coded and shows off my obsessive (but not addictive) tendencies nicely. So far the Universe has been right on board. Or I have. Whichever way it may be: life has shown, and looks to continue, kindness towards me.
I adore my cats, who now reside with my mother in the US; support everyday use of heavy whipping cream in black tea; and love the way the Pacific Ocean has moods of blue. I think taking baths is an art form and I am working to perfect it. My partner is a New Zealand born Weasley and continues opening my heart in ways that backbending asanas only ever dreamed of. I never skipped school except to hang out with my Granma. Long ago my farther christened me his Neo-Victorian, which I am very proud of.
Currently I’m grooving on writing Yoga fuelled articles, working in a fiber boutique, and slowly making my way through a second Aromatherapy course as well as another Anatomy & Physiology course. When I get out I like to hike, when I stay in I like to bake and cook. Lime green is my signature colour and I go absolutely, deliriously happy in the presence of a kitten.
Since quitting teaching Yoga fulltime around Seattle in 2007 and taking off to travel I am amazed at how charmed a life I've been blessed with. Who doesn't have an answer, of even a superficial nature, to the question "what do you do?" I haven’t for years… I am of the opinion that I should simply respond, "I do Yoga." True - I probably won't be in a pose when asked, and true too that I'm not teaching ongoing classes or even likely to again for a while, but true also that Yoga is about breathing, about being present to life - both which I'm working diligently and devotedly upon.
Besides this blog I write, more professionally, for The Yoga Lunchbox, an online magazine based in New Zealand. Namaste and see you there!
This site was started at the request of two dear friends of mine. It's dedicated to them, as well as the many other wonderful, talented, generous people I am blessed to have in my life. Love you all to Infinity!
